FAshionMAnia is an open Fashion Designer Challenge to Professionals and Students; a design competition open to realized works designed by fashion designers in the fashion industry. This Fashion Designer Challenge consists of a mini collection of 3 garments in menswear or womenswear (can be combined). 

The best designs are selected according to form and function aspects of the apparel; the fashion designs are considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, emotional impact, choice of materials and fabric, realization techniques and sustainability criteria.

PARTICIPATION in FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge is open to residents of the United States. THE CHALLENGE IS OPEN TO STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS.

STUDENTS studying Fashion, Art and Design and/or Fashion Merchandising during the academic year 2017-2019. Student challengers must be current students and cannot be professionally employed in the fashion industry. Student challengers must design their own original projects completely by themselves (must submit a copy of class schedule with registration)

PROFESSIONALS who run their own business/retail store or hold an associates or bachelor’s degree in fashion design.



ELIGIBILITY By participating, Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and Regulations and the decisions of FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge which are final and binding on matters relating to FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge. 

HOW TO ENTER: Entrants must register by completing the official online entry form at http://www.darlafoxx.com and submit the required application processing fee. For participant's Entry to be valid and in order for their Entry to be eligible for judging, participant must acknowledge reading, accepting, and agreeing to the terms and conditions set forth in these Official Rules and Regulations. Entries must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. (EST) on December 31st, 2018. FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge is not responsible for any charges incurred in conjunction with the submission of Entries. All Entries submitted must be original, truthful, unpublished and without copyright restrictions. All Entries become the unrestricted property of FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge.


After registration is completed, the fashion design challenger will be assigned a fashion genre from a pre-selected group of fashion genres which have been sealed in an envelope for each registration. After registration is completed, the fashion design challenger will need to present sketches for each design within seven (7) days of receiving the chosen garment for the Recycle Challenge along with a detailed description of the each garment’s manufacture and its relationship to the collection category. The sketches will also be used as part of the judging criteria.

NO FABRIC CHALLENGE
Fabric (fæbrɪk)
Fabric is cloth or other material produced by weaving together cotton, nylon, wool, silk, or other threads. Fabrics are used for making things such as clothes, curtains, and sheets. This challenge is open to your interpretation but its source of inspiration must come from the chosen genre. You may use anything but any type of fabric to construct your garment.

NO THREAD CHALLENGE
Thread (THred)
Thread or a thread is a long very thin piece of a material such as cotton, nylon, or silk,
especially one that is used in sewing or weaving. This challenge is open to your interpretation but its source of inspiration must come from the chosen genre. You may use anything but any type of thread to construct your garment.

RECYCLE CHALLENGE
The fashion design challenger will receive by mail or in person a garment selected by the organizer (Darlene James) which needs to be incorporated into the new design. Your source After registration is completed, the fashion design challenger will be assigned a fashion genre from a pre-selected group of fashion genres which have been sealed in an envelope for each registration. After registration is completed, the fashion design challenger will need to present sketches for each design within seven (7) days of receiving the chosen garment for the Recycle Challenge along with a detailed description of the garment’s manufacture and its relationship to the collection category. of inspiration needs to come from the selected fashion genre and the selected garment.

ORIGINALITY: Your Entry must be your original work and must not contain any third- party content or other materials (such as writing, poetry, text, graphics, artwork or logos), or any inappropriate or offensive materials.  

Challengers may model one of their own designs or use their own models; hair and makeup (HMUA) will also be provided for any and all models the day of the event at no extra charge sponsored by Paul Mitchell School of Cleveland. You will have an opportunity to consult with your HMUA before the event. Designers need to be prepared to discuss their garments and what inspired their design at the event.

JUDGING CRITERIA The best designs are selected according to form and function aspects of the apparel; the fashion designs are considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, choice of materials and fabric, emotional impact, realization techniques and sustainability criteria.  

SELECTION OF WINNERS: A panel of judges selected by FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge will select Winners based on a review of their collection during the FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge runway show. FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge judges have the sole authority and discretion to select the Winners. The decision of the judges is final and not subject to challenge or appeal. FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge judges are selected and authorized to judge by FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge. FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge reserves the right to replace, add and/or remove judges, and/or otherwise modify the judging process at any time prior to the commencement of the FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge runway show. The process to select the Winner may be modified or amended without notice at any time at the sole discretion of FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge. FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge , its sponsors and partners are not responsible for any disruption and/or cancellation of FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge and no guarantees or warrantees are implied.  

AWARDS (additional prizing or changes to prizing may be announced at a later date)
The winners will consist of 1st and 2nd Places in both the Student and Professional categories which will be selected by the panel of judges.

GENERAL RULES: FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, its sponsors, partners, companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, joint venture companies, advertising and promotion agencies, marketing agencies, licensees, successors, and assigns or any other entity involved in the development or administration of the FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge and all of their respective employees, officers, directors, shareholders, sponsors, partners and legal counsel (collectively, "Released Parties") are not responsible for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, transmissions, lines or technical failures or difficulties, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, including, without limitation, any errors of any kind that may occur in connection with the administration of FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, the processing of entries, the announcement of prizes; or the incorrect or inaccurate capture of any entry or other such information or the failure to capture any such information. Released Parties are not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized by FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to Entrants or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, uploading or downloading materials from or use of the web site. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge web site or web pages and social media pages associated with FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, as solely determined by FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, will be disqualified. Any attempt by any person to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge web site or web pages associated with FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge is in violation of criminal and civil law. Should such an attempt or violation of law be made, FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent of the law. FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge may, in their sole discretion, terminate the competition and voting at any point and declare a winner based on the votes up to that point. Entrants, by participating, agree that Released Parties and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, dealerships, advertising and promotion agencies, and website providers/web masters, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by Entrants against, any liability, for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including death, to persons or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge. TERMS OF ENTRY: By entering, you represent and warrant that your Entry consists of original works by you and that you have not copied or used other works to create your Entry without permission or right to do so; no person, other than Entrant has any right, title, or interest in any part of your Entry; your Entry, the use thereof by FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, or the exercise by FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge of any rights granted by you pursuant to these Official Rules and Regulations and your choice to enter and compete in the FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, does not and will not infringe or violate any rights of any third party or entity, including, without limitation, copyright and trademark or contractual rights; you have all the rights, licenses, permissions and consents necessary to submit the Entry and to grant all of the rights that you have granted to FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge pursuant to these Official Rules and Regulations and necessary to submit your entry in accordance with these Rules and Regulations. Entries must comply with all laws, rules, and regulations.  

CONDITIONS: Entrants release and agree to hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all damage, loss or liability to person or property, due in whole or part, directly or indirectly, by reason of an entrant's Submission and/or its contents or by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize or participation in FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge. These Official Rules and Regulations supersede any and all agreements or communications of any kind between any Entrant and FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge or any person or entity associated with FAshionMAnia Fashion Design Challenge, and cannot be modified or waived except in writing and unless properly signed.  


Johnanthan Kayne (special guest judge) is an American fashion designer specializing in eveningwear gowns He began his fashion career working as a sketch artist and buyer at a local evening wear boutique in 1988. In 2000, he was accepted to the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC where he gained an extensive knowledge of design, draping, illustration, pattern making, and sewing. Kayne graduated magna cum laude and won the acclaimed “Critics Choice Award: for evening wear. After returning to Nashville after graduation in 2002, he opened Kayne’s Clothing boutique where he created custom designs for pageant clients, dancers and country music artists. As a successful fashion he designer and business owner, Kayne was selected to compete on Project Runway 3 in 2006, here he placed in the Top 5 designers. He launched the Johnathan Kayne dress line and award winning shoe line produced by Benjamin Walk Corp. Kayne started on the TLC special Gown Crazy in 2009, and has also appeared on E!, ABC, NBC, Bravo and The Style Network. His designs have appeared on the world’s biggest starts and more prestigious red carpets. A few of his celebrity clients include Jennifer Lopez, Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Kelly Pickler, Tanya Tucker, Lee Brice and Rascal Flatts. 
Judy Gannon Designing women’s clothing, including career wear, bridal and swimwear has been her pleasure for over 40 years. In addition, she has worked in retail as a Store Operations specialist, Merchandise Manager and as a store manager in traditional and superstore formats. She has also worked on store optimizations and as a store coordinator for special projects across the United States. Judy Gannon has an Associate Degree in Fashion Design from the Virginia Marti College of Art and Design. While working at VMCAD since 1977, she has held the titles of instructor, Assistant Department Chair and the Department Chair of the Fashion Design Department. She also teaches sewing at Tri-C’s Corporate College, works on prototypes for new product development and is a yoga instructor at Elevated Fitness. 
Becoming Editor In Chief at Haute Ohio Magazine was a natural progression for Jackie Bertolette. With decades of experience as Fashion/Editorial Photographer, Fashion Designer, Graphic Designer and most recently Model Manager, Jackie has spent her entire professional career in fashion, music and the visual arts. The founding of Haute Ohio Magazine is the fruition of her dream to work at a fashion magzine but she could never have imagined that it would be one that she launched! As that magazine's popularity increases, she has added Ohio Fashion Week to her list of companies and now produces it's black tie fashion gala, The Upper Echelon Runway. Both Haute Ohio Magazine and OHFW focuses on Ohio and Midwest fashion industry talent and their mission is to offer a platform for our world class talent to be showcased.
Courtney DePerow 
American model who is best known for America’s Next Top Model Cycle 22; she was one of the 9 finalists. She currently has over 30,000 followers on IG and over 6,000 followers on Twitter. She has said that she was very sheltered growing up and that her mother taught her to be caring.

Anna Olsen is the manager for Crafted Content at JOANN. Her background in fashion design sent her on a career journey as a footwear designer, design instruct at Kent State University, and now inspiring the JOANN customer through daily inspiration.  Outside of work you can find Anna out for a run or at home creating daily adventures with her kids
